A SAFETY campaign will see women heading to Liverpool city centre for festive nights out offered personal attack alarms, waterproof ponchos and flip flops.
British Transport Police has joined forces with Merseyrail in a bid to keep women safe over Christmas by issuing ‘survival packs’ at city centre train stations.
Inspector Gary Jones, of BTP, said: “The alarms give women an audible method of disturbing would-be attackers and of making others aware of their situation.
“We want to encourage people to use marshalled taxi ranks or walk back to stations so the ponchos are there to keep them dry, while the flip-flops are provided help them walk from the city centre.”
He added: “Some of this may seem like a bit of fun, but the overriding safety message is deadly serious.”
