A SOLD-OUT CloneFest will take over Sherdley Park tomorrow (Saturday).

THE full house signs are up for CloneFest with 4,000 tickets having been snapped up for the event.

The festival to be held at Sherdley Park is to mark the 20th anniversary of the St Helens band Clone Roses, top tribute band to the legendary Stone Roses.

Having performed across the country, the group, including frontman Gav Scott, brother Tony Scott, Mike Bagshaw and Phil Bennett, always maintain their St Helens ties, and return to play at the Citadel in the town centre regularly.

CloneFest will also host a number of tribute bands from the Manchester era including Oasish, The Smiths Ltd, Happy Mondaze, True Order, The Courtbetweeners & The Verve Experience.

The Clone Roses also announced that Manchester DJ Clint Boon will be spinning tunes along with Clones longtime friend and DJ/Host Dave Sweetmore.

In April it had been announced extra tickets were made made available for the festival, with more than 3,000 having been sold at that stage.

At the time frontman Gav, from Windle, said: "We were just blown away when we found out.

"At the beginning we were hoping for maybe 1,500 or 2,000 tickets to be sold so it's done so much better than we thought.

"We just can't believe it, it's great.

"We've been doing this for 20 years and to celebrate that in our hometown is going to be a brilliant day."

The group made their debut appearance at The Phoenix in St Helens in July 1998.

Over the past two decades the band has gone on to play more than 600 shows, most noticeably headlining venues such as Manchester Academy 1, Belfast Ulster Hall and Warrington Parr Hall.

They have played at festivals such as The Isle of Wight Festival, Shiine On Weekeer and others.
