LAST Friday I had a wandered to the Rendezvous to see new band Tullamore grace the stage with a nice selection of material that I hadn’t heard before. which is always refreshing.
In particular the Janis Joplin classic Another piece of my heart as well as other material. Hopefully they’ll back in the area soon and well worth catching.
Then on Saturday I called into the CAMRA award-winning Phoenix on Canal Street.
It is really blossoming into a top live music venue with a great ‘feel at home’ atmosphere and, for those who like their real ale, a great selection of beer, too.
Again I was able to enjoy something a little different and duo Mad Hat Ska played their selection of ska and mod material with conviction. and look like they’re having a good time. The stand-out track for me was Toot’s and the Maytals Monkey Man. and it’s not very often you hear this sort of stuff on the local circuit and everyone had a highly enjoyable evening!
