A STALWART of the Warrington live scene is launching his new band at The Lounge later this month.

Joe Hatton will be introducing music fans to The Bid with a party for his debut single, Don’t Wait, at the Springfield Street bar on Friday, October 26.

The Whitecross resident has been in numerous bands and has been a Warrington Music Festival regular over the years, including a stint with China White (now Winachi Tribe).

Joe, 28, is also known for this solo projects but has taken a much more of a team approach to The Bid.

He said: “It definitely has a different feel to my solo stuff. I’ve had a few bands but this is the first time it’s felt truly collaborative.

“We’re trying to build the songs from the ground up.”

The single, influenced by The Smiths and Vaccines musically and Bob Dylan lyrically, was recorded at Sugar House Records where Viola Beach made Swings and Waterslides.

Joe, a former Sir Thomas Boteler CE High School student, added: “Sugar House were amazing. They guided us through the whole process and their input was great.

“They took the song and stripped it right back with just an acoustic guitar and vocals and built it up again bit by bit.”

The Bid, an indie band with folk influences, also features Joe’s wife Lindsay on keys, Matt Selman on bass, Ciaran Raftery on lead guitar and Ad Jenks on drums.

So what is it like working with your other half?

Joe said: “Working with my wife means I get an extremely honest point of view on the music

“Lindsay’s opinion means a lot to me and I know she’s not going to hold back and tell me what she really thinks. If it’s not good she’s the first to tell me.”

The Bid’s launch party for their first single. Don’t Wait, will be at The Lounge on October 26. Entry is free
