CHILDREN are invited to grab World Book Day books for vouchers at The Book Stop, with plenty on offer.
World Book Day is an initiative to help promote the importance of reading for young children and was created by Unesco in 1995.
The worldwide movement celebrates the world of books and reading and is celebrated in more than 100 countries.
Schoolchildren are encouraged to go to school dressed as their favourite character while bringing along the accompanying book.
Though World Book Day falls on Thursday, March 2, St Helens Book Stop are inviting schools and all children to access the shop and swap their National Book Tokens for a free book.
Caitlin Lowe, from St Helens Book Stop said: “It’s so important to get children into books and reading so we are really happy to be taking part in the token swap.
“There is a selection of books on offer, which can either be bought with a token or for £1 by the likes of Lenny Henry, Joe Wicks, Nick Sharratt and more so it’s exciting.
“We have had four schools come in so far with pupils and its been great, but children can come in with parents and swap their tokens too, it’s all about promoting reading.”
World Book Day Vouchers can be used in shops until Sunday, March 26, however the last day it can be spent in St Helens Book Stop is Saturday, March 25.
