STAR LETTER: Billinge residents denied access to phone numbers
I WONDER if the residents of Billinge with 01744 telephone numbers are aware that they have not had the St Helens phone book distributed to them by BT for a number of years now.
The reason is that we possess a WN5 post code and receive the Wigan telephone book, not the st Helens book. The significance of this change by BT is that St Helens town, to which many are oriented, businesses and private numbers cannot now be obtained from the directory.
I also wonder if St Helens businesses are aware that these Bililnge residents are being denied access to their services via the directory?
If the Billinge residents and St Helens businesses feel strongly about this, they should complain to BT. The number to dial is the Freephone number 0800 833 400.
BT require a large volume of complaints before the marketing department will consider making any change to the policy, because it is believed that no complaint implies that people are happy with the arrangement; not that people do not make frequent checks on the date of the last St Helens' phonebook delivered to them.
