Good luck Rio... you’re going to need it!

Good luck Rio... you’re going to need it! Good luck Rio... you’re going to need it!

WE now know that the cost of the opening and closing Olympic ceremonies was a snip at about £80million.

Now, I may be cynical, but this is about the same cost the government will save from shutting down the Remploy factories and causing untold misery and heartache for thousands of poor souls.

So much for our caring sharing society, as these people are cast off to degenerate and will be denied the only human contact they had.

Soon our great and good will bask in the glory of the Paralympics, well the photo opportunities it gives them, just as they did during the Olympics, when Cameron and Boris broke the 100 metres record many times as they raced between venues.

Meanwhile we hear that 2,818 homes in the Olympic village have been sold to a Middle East investment fund for £150million less than we paid to build them and will be rented out.

DHSS need not apply and these will be added to their already bulging property portfolio as they are buying up most of prize properties in England.

So much for the social housing promised to Eastenders in the original bid, who also missed out in the Olympic building programme as most construction jobs went to Eastern Europeans.

We also know that the final cost of these games will be £12 billion up from the original £2.8 billion. Well anyone can make a mistake but this does not take into account the thousands of good causes denied Lottery funding as most of the money went south.

These included youth clubs, junior sports teams, handicapped centres, elderly services, respite homes, hospices, etc. All were denied money for the greater good, but hey, life’s not fair.

It’s all over now and the Olympic circus moves on to Rio de Janeiro, I wish the poor people of Brazil the best of luck; they are going to need it.

I agree with you Harry what a waste of money. Not only the direct cost but the loss of revenue at a time when our country desperately needs it. No cutbacks also should be made while we are sending aid to countries wealthier than ourselves. Nothing surprises me anymore about our so called politicians.
