What a great reception I got in St Helens!

I WOULD like to thank everyone that turned out in Greenfield Road, St Helens to support my stint as Olympic Torch Bearer.

I have to admit I was quite nervous because I live outside the area but the reception I received as I stepped off the bus with my torch at the junction with Hammill Street was just amazing and completely put me at ease, especially all the youngsters wanting their photograph taken with the torch.

In 2016 I received an MBE for 17 years of service to my charity Katies Ski Tracks and I thought that moment would never be beaten, but thanks to the good people of St. Helens how wrong could I have been.

I trust everyone will now follow the journey of the Olympic flame to its final destination in London at the start of the Games and when they witness the lighting of the Olympic cauldron we will all remember the day we witnessed the flame in St. Helens.
