Rainford Tory bucks the trend

I WOULD like to thank all those people in Rainford, Crank and King’s Moss who took the trouble to vote for me in the local election.

I am pleased to say that we really did buck the trend by achieving 54% of the vote and maintaining our lead over the Labour party at close to the same percentage as last year.

To follow Betty Lowe is a big challenge and I cannot hope to emulate her contribution over such a long career.

However, I will work with Councillors David Monk and Allan Jones to represent all the people of Rainford; in other words “putting all the people of Rainford before politics”.

Councillor Rupert Nichols, Crank, St Helens.

it is a pity the LABOUR councillors don't have the same ethos,it is more a case of don't do anything to go against the boss and keep my job for life.

May I say what a profoundly nice man you are, and thank you for such a well written and considerate electronic pamphlet. Many thanks again.

That is just a standard form letter just the names change. Just expect more of the same. Like papyt says no one is going to make waves. I don't know why these polaticions make these speeches. In other words don't talk,do. For a change.

what ethos is that exactly? saying a few words in a letter isn't an 'ethos' . Talk is easy.

It's basic politics. If your house doesn't have houses attached to it on either side then you vote Tory unless you're weak then you vote Lib Dem. If you're house has houses stuck to it you vote Labour...

I have known Rupert for a number of years and I am sure he will do his best for the people of Rainford, as I would expect any elected Cllr. would do the same. We will see.

I think it's a massive generalisation to say if you are in a detached property you vote Tory!!

I live in a detached property, I work very hard and so does my husband. It doesn't mean we have silver spoons in our mouths and will vote Tory blindly for our wholes lives! In fact quite the opposite.
