THE government has spent a lot of money issuing leaflets warning us all about the health dangers in the heatwave that is being forecast.
The TV news also carries reports warning us to take extra care, look out for the elderly and infirm and to ensure that we don’t suffer dehydration in a heatwave.
Perhaps somebody could tell Arriva all this ? Our bus service (36 & 36A) has had its frequency halved during the day, which means that it now leaves town nearly fully occupied.
This would not be a big problem except that NO MATTER HOW WARM IT IS the buses ALWAYS have their heaters on full blast and causing the passenger space to be like a sauna !!
When asked by any passenger why this is, all the drivers reply: “The heaters cannot be turned off."
Surely it is not asking too much in 2009 to have heaters that can be turned off in a heatwave?
If for some unknown reason, Arriva cannot have the heaters turned off at any time surely they could, at the very least, have the old timetables reintroduced to try and lessen the number of passengers on the bus at any one time.
