HAVING read Paul Sculthorpe’s column in last week’s Star (June 28) concerning the game in Denver, he only commented upon one aspect of the game – England’s performance.

No mention of the Kiwis – a young team with many making their first international appearance.

In my opinion, they produced a truly outstanding performance, fluid ball skills with spectacular off loads.

In short their game was akin to watching the Harlem Globe Trotters playing with an oval shaped ball.

Apart from the recent performances from St Helens RLFC the game is crying out for skill and entertainment.

I have been watching both League and Union since 1960 and from what I saw in the Denver game leads me to believe that there is a future for the game.

But it must adopt a new entertainment-based attitude otherwise attendances will continue to dwindle.
