I WRITE in response to Liz Hodge’s recent letter about the Dream.

I have been saying for a long time that something needs to be done to attract more visitors.

People in Sutton Manor have an opportunity to mobilise the community and get the Old Miners Club the Smithy Manor brought back into use as a heritage centre for the Dream, commemorating the mining community that once thrived here.

It could also be a community owned pub and a hub for the young people.
These ideas can work if the community can be brought together and mobilised.

There is funding available from a number of sources.

Here is an example: I do a lot walking in the Peak District National Park along the Hope Valley Derbyshire is a village called Bamford.

In the village there was a derelict pub called the Angler’s Rest the community set up an action group. They got help in doing a business plan and funding applications.

It is now a thriving pub, restaurant, cafe and post office.
It created about thirty local jobs for local people.

Come on people of Sutton Manor. If it can be done in Bamford then it can be done in Sutton Manor.
