IT is an utter disgrace that the town centre has been without a library for so long.
It has contributed, in no small way, to the slow demise of the town.
I for one visit the town far less than I did.
It was a place to go, particularly for pensioners, to have a chat, read the papers and books with a cheap coffee or tea.
When it was known that it would have to be closed for a considerable time temporary premises should have been obtained.
It’s not that there is a shortage of suitable premises.
What about the old Woolworths store for instance?
The councillors of St Helens should be ashamed of what is happening to the town.
