A VISIT to the cinema in St Helens to see David Gilmour (Pink Floyd) screened from the amphitheatre in Pompeii seemed a great opportunity to experience some fantastic music from one of rock’s most famous godfathers.

Sadly, the evening was ruined by a large group of people at the back of the auditorium.

When they weren’t traipsing back and forth to the toilet, they kept up a constant barrage of loud, rude, offensive comments that drove nearby people to other parts of the auditorium to which they seemed oblivious; or perhaps they just didn’t care.

Cinema staff tried to quell matters but failed.

As I and other patrons shouldn’t have to put up with louts who haven’t matured past schoolboy behaviour, neither should cinema staff have to work under difficult conditions.

I hope that the cinema takes action to protect its staff and customers from this type of behaviour.

Maybe it was captured on the cinema’s CCTV. Perhaps they could then be shown at other screenings in a name and shame exclusive; but then why ruin another lot of people’s entertainment.
