I READ Cllr Gomez-Aspron’s reply to the numerous complaints regarding the rise in council tax with interest.

As a Labour man, I completely agree that the council have been let down terribly by the damaging austerity measures of this Conservative government.

When you’re facing a loss of almost £100m, the funding for services must come from elsewhere and I totally get that.

However, may I refer to the councillor’s letter and a couple of other letters from ST, of Eccleston and from Mr Benggo of Newton-le-Willows that also appeared in the April 13 issue of the Star and ask him how to explain why the service we get from our council is so incompetent and inefficient?

Also, can the councillor explain why the streets of Sutton (and other areas) are always festooned with litter?

I recently reported the mess behind Sutton Oak Primary School and Carnegie Crescent.

But a month down the line, nothing has been done.
