WHAT is happening to the Great British public houses that are left to go to rack and ruin?
Pubs such as the Green Dragon in Sutton Manor and The Rams Head in Haydock, areas with plenty of housing near them but no place for the locals to go for a drink and bite to eat.
Weak planning laws make pubs a soft target for property developers to convert or change of use.
I call on the council to take a positive attitude towards pubs, adopting pro-pub policies into local development plans.
They should place asset of community value nominations on the pub.
Allan, Haydock
