I HAVE just been for a short walk at the back of my house on Amanda Road.

The ground is absolutely sodden after a few days of rain and the normally turgid stream is flowing high.

In 32 years of living there, I have never seen it flood but in the last twelve months it has twice been as high as I can remember.

I’m sure our council can put an end to that no flooding.

However, if plans, which may lead to 800 houses being put on the golf course on the other side of the stream, go ahead I fear gardens will be at a minimum as they will all be concrete for households with multiple cars.

I would be amazed if it doesn’t flood regularly after that.

I can only speak with close knowledge about the development near me but all building on green belt reduces our quality of lives; that is why green belt is there.

The good feeling you get from driving Burrows Lane in pleasant weather is one example.

Let’s face it, this country is a misery to live in and with the roads even worse than now, it will become even more a living hell.

I do sympathise to some extent with the council trying to cope with the effects of the government withdrawing funding from areas where it won’t win seats.

But it is actually helping it make the majority even more downtrodden which is exactly what May and her cohorts want.
