IF you ever thought that the prime vision for St Helens local authority was to deliver the highest quality of life in the UK to St Helens residents then think again.

This authority is intent on destroying irreplaceable green belt to provide housing and employment.

This is based on flawed, out of date thinking.

Future employment growth will come from small and sole traders. Work is shifting to home based delivery.

These entrepreneurs, like me, will be looking for a high quality of public services and green space.

I, therefore, humbly suggest that the authority should seek to concentrate on radically improving the  under performing schools, the erratic refuse collection, the non existent road repair cycle and its inadequate traffic management before needlessly adding to all these massive problems with a huge hike in green belt housing across the borough.

We need to protect the environmental quality and character of St Helens through maintaining the green belt and countryside.

The proposed new developments will create an unacceptable impact both individually and cumulatively on the amenity and health of residents.
