I RETURNED from Christmas shopping with my wife, where we spent more than £100 supporting local businesses in the town.

We parked in the disabled car park next to Wilkinson’s and prior to leaving the vehicle, as the driver I placed the blue badge and time clock on the dashboard for all to see.

Imagine my distress when on returning to the vehicle some 40 minutes later, I found a penalty charge for £70 stuck to the windscreen.

Apparently I had not displayed the disabled person's badge in the prescribed manner. I then noticed that the time clock had fallen off the dashboard and was on the floor.

My disabled wife, who struggles to get out of the car, must have caught the card with her coat and knocked it off accidentally and neither of us had noticed.

I went to Wesley House to challenge the notice but no one was willing to speak to me, I filled the challenge form in and await to see the result.

No wonder people have stopped coming into town for shopping.

How petty can you get?
