I HAVE been having problems recently with my standard ADSL2 broadband connection – ie using the telephone cables.

The connection has been very unstable and speed has been anything between 0.5 and 2.6 Mbps.

Prior to beginning of August, I was getting a stable 3Mbps, I’m wondering if any other residents have been having the same problems?

For some reason, Garswood has been left out of the upgrade for superfast fibre broadband.

The Ashton-in-Makerfield exchange has been enabled for two or more years and, as far as I am aware, every other locality cabinets connected to that exchange, including those just outside the Garswood boundary, have also been enabled – but not those in Garswood. Why?

The Openreach website dates keep changing and I am not holding my breath on the latest promise of March 2017.

I can’t get a straightforward answer from anyone, including the council, who provide planning permission for work that has to be done.

I would welcome emails from anyone who is experiencing the same recent problems, and who would be interested in an upgrade to Superfast fibre, whenever that may be.

I can be reached on garswood@tiscali.co.uk
