I'M writing to highlight just how run down and dirty the Sutton borough has become in recent years.

I am fed up of seeing filled dog mess bags hanging off the hedgerows of the farmers fields on Reginald Road, along with the many drinks cans, takeaway packaging, crisp packets and cigarette packets. The little walkway that leads towards the police station on Robins Lane is also a disgusting mess.

Behind there, the Caldo on Worsley Brow is also a mess with the decaying mulch of not only last autumn's leaves, but also the autumn before, giving off an incredible stink.

Isn't it about time one of the three councillors supposedly representing Sutton ward actually did something about this?

I keep seeing in the Rose newsletters how they believe dog fouling is a disgrace, but I don't see them actually proposing any effective measures against it, nor do I see them actually proposing to do anything about the littering in general – especially when some of the littering is dog mess bags just being left on the streets or in the bushes.

Sutton used to be a very well kept and maintained area, but it is no longer. I wonder how many councillors represented Sutton when it didn't have a litter problem?

If there were less, then I'd like to know how come less managed to do more?

I know any response to my complaint will detail how the area regularly deploys a council litter picker.

I've tried reporting issues to the council, such as broken pint glasses on the pavements in Cecil Street, endangering the children and pets in the area, but no one came to clean the street up.

Maybe a letter to the Star will embarrass them into actually doing something for a change?
