I'VE read a few letters over the last few weeks, as well as received a leaflet about Parkside based on speculation and 20 year old plans. They seem to refer to air quality (which will soon be published to have had a massive improvement) and traffic.

My suggestion would be to at least see what the new plans are before objecting and complaining about complete speculation. Considering those plans haven't been released yet, surely waiting to see them would be the sensible thing to do?

Newton-le-Willows is not a small Oxfordshire hamlet! It is a proud, historic, industrial large town.

What is irrefutable is that some parts of Newton-le-Willows have unemployment rates of up to 50%. So we need to maximise employment opportunities. If that means we can develop a derelict former colliery site, even better.

Newton-le-Willows has a population of around 22,000 people. The borough has a population of around 180,000. Let's all have the debate instead of a vocal minority that live near the site.

I'd love to hear any reasons why we don't need to bring employment back to a town only here due to industry and its strategic location in the North West. Towns prosper when residents have disposable income.

Let's help them achieve that with more jobs.
