AS A driver, I believe it is about time cyclists had regulations to obey just as motorists have.
As a motorist, I have to: Pass a driving test plus the Highway Code.
Obtain a driving licence.
Insure my car for any driver authorised by me.
Pay road tax.
Pay for an MOT test.
Always obey traffic lights.
Not use a mobile while driving.
Not drive on the footpath.
So far as I can see, none of these, less the footpath, is applicable to cyclists.
I agree that they do have a lot of problems to face as a cyclist on the road, especially from the large number of bad and idiotic motorists, however, it costs them nothing to use the highway and they have virtually no regulations controlling them.
As a final thought what about pedestrians crossing the road while texting or gaming on their mobiles.
