I WOULD like to appeal to all those Cineworld cinemagoers who seem to find it impossible to do without their phone for a couple of hours. Please just turn it off.

It's not enough for it just to be on silent although not everyone can be bothered even to do this. The light from a smartphone screen, whether the person is checking the time or to see if they've had any messages since the last time they looked about 15 minutes ago, is incredibly distracting in a darkened cinema.

It's rude and disrespectful to others and only seems to be getting worse.

Cinema tickets are expensive and I enjoy the big screen experience but I find my enjoyment is constantly being ruined by thoughtless people.
