I ENJOYED the article on the St Helens Rolls of Honour (Star, June 4) – these people gave everything.
My friend Tom Bone and I were apprentices at British Insulated Cables Ltd (BIC).
He lived in Eccleston Hall and Tom went to Prescot Grammar School. His father had a high position on Whiston Council. He was in the RAF and died near Penang, Malaysia.
If you take his name from the cenotaph on the side facing the Gamble Institute, you have the wrong initial.
I reported this to a man in the town hall years ago but I didn't hear back from him again.
I think the very least we could do is to record his name correctly.
Edward Williams, Eccleston
