WITH reference to memories of the great Geoff Duke I must be one of the few people left who actually worked at Geoff Duke's Greenfield Road garage.
I was there from 1953 to 1956. When he was not away racing he came to the garage quite often in a Morris Minor and later in a MG Magnet.
I also remember a film unit from the BBC coming to the workshop for a piece to be screened on Sportsview presented by Peter Dimmock.
Geoff sometimes came to the garage on a BSA trials bike which he would leave in the passageway.
I would have the job of cleaning the mud off it. I still have the original letter with the Geoff Duke heading on it when I first started.
Yours Faithfully
Ken Bate,
Rainhill.
