STAR reader Lilia Hughes captured these beautiful shots of a goldcrest at Taylor Park. The goldcrest is Britain’s smallest bird and after a lengthy effort of trying, Lilia finally managed to take these photos.

“Nearly one year of painstaking stalking of this elusive bird paid back on Saturday morning when I managed to take few decent snaps!” she said.

“Tiny, entirely insectivorous birds, they can’t be bribed by seed or nuts and they don’t like open area.

“I’ve seen them in the park dozens times but was unable to take photographs - restless they are always on the move - in the bramble, hedges or tops of the trees.”
