IN reply to Greenbanker and Anthony Wilson’s comments (Star letters, February 12) regarding a local candidate not being selected by Labour for St Helens North.
I would like to congratulate the members of St Helens North CLP on their decision to elect Conor McGinn as the Labour candidate for the forthcoming General Election.
It is totally irrelevant that the successful candidate should have a St Helens background or be a serving borough councillor.
What is more important is that the chosen candidate should be the person with the best credentials to best serve the people of St Helens both locally and nationally. After all Conor McGinn, if elected, could be representing this town for many decades to come.
So once again, well done to party members for voting with your heads and not your hearts.
SF, Rainford
