LAST week’s edition of the Star highlighted another St Helens school branded in special measures by Ofsted. However, in my opinion, a closer look at the inspection report for Lansbury Bridge demonstrates how it is a victim of the failing Ofsted inspection regime.
Many inflammatory headlines in the Ofsted report are simply not backed up by any logical argument – early years provision is branded as inadequate, yet the report only lists positive evidence about the good quality of provision.
This inspection regime leaves parents worried and teachers demoralised. Whilst I cannot explain the technocratic complexity of a confusing Ofsted report, I can say that the teachers at Lansbury Bridge are amongst the most dedicated and make a real difference to children with special needs. For that I think they are outstanding.
