I’M WRITING to make two points.

Firstly, regarding litter on Cambridge Road and how it affects Rodney Street when it’s windy.

This needs to be tackled.

Secondly, about the cost of road repairs. How do we expect to cut costs when the standard of work is so shoddy?

I stood with an elderly chap watching two young men filling in a couple of potholes. Talk about shoddy work! They just dumped in two clumps of tarmac, rolled it flat and that was that.

The old chap who was stood watching said to one of the young men: "You know, all that will come out again in the next frost, then it will be more cost."

He told them he’d worked all his life on the roads and if you don’t prepare them first it’s a waste of time.

He said to them:"You should have put grit in first before you put the tarmac on."

As he walked away he got two fingers up behind his back and was called a ‘silly old git’.

Who employs these slipshods?
