WHAT a great shame it is that although we have a brand spanking new railway station at St Helens Central the first thing that visitors to the town see is a derelict site adjacent.
The site has been allowed to overgrow and is littered with rubbish.
My attempts to find out from St Helens Council as to what they intend to do with the site and when has been met with silence.
They have promised to clean up the site but nothing has happened.
How can anyone expect companies to invest in the town when the council cannot keep it looking as if someone cares.
Or is it that the council has abandoned all hope of making the town centre viable again? If that were a private landlord a notice would have been served to enforce the cleaning up.
A case of double standards.
