Recently our Life After Stroke Service allotment on Alder Hey Road was targeted on several occasions by vandals.
They caused a great deal of damage by breaking into the polytunnel, ripping out the plants’ supporting canes, slashing the sides and ripping the doors.
After an appeal to the community for help, we were overwhelmed by the remarkable generosity and support of local people, who all got in touch to offer their support.
We just wanted to say a huge thank you to Michael Haw, the 12th St Helens (Newtown) Scouts and the kindhearted local people who helped us repair the damage and restore the allotment, by offering their time and expertise.
Stroke survivors and carers can now enjoy using the allotment again in the coming months as part of their recovery.
Jean Hobbs,
Stroke Association
