I WAS among the thousands who visited St Helens Cemetery on Mother’s Day to lay flowers at gravesides.
It was beautiful spring day, matched by the meticulous appearance of the cemetery’s grounds.
Those responsible for the upkeep of the grounds – which I imagine includes St Helens Council workers and the Friends of St Helens Cemetery – deserve a big pat on the back.
For many visiting the cemetery on such a day evokes considerable poignancy, but the surroundings certainly eased the feelings of sadness.
AM,
Carr Mill
