ERIC Pickles came out with a statement in November 2012: “There is no plausible reason why councils should not deliver weekly bin collections to residents.”
It seems what he said about keeping weekly bin rounds was a sham and a PR stunt.
Once a week household rubbish collections came into law in 1875 to stamp out cholera and other plagues, which claimed huge numbers of lives.
If the council cannot deliver weekly bin collections now, let’s hope Labour will when it’s the next General Election.
