Saints fans who are praising the players need to take off their rose-tinted glasses
THANK heavens that’s the end of the 2013 season for Saints.
To say it was a poor season is an understatement.
But it seems many fans are happy for the club to finish fifth and win nothing nowadays as long as there is the odd lucky or brave performance.
The usual spin from the coach and players is “we’ve got to look at the positives” or “it has been a transitional season”.
I think a lot of the players should take a long look at themselves, and the fans who are praising them should take off the blinkers or rose-tinted glasses.
This has to be one of the worst seasons for a long time.
It was for the best we were beaten at Leeds because we would have been slaughtered at Wigan or Warrington. At least the new players joining the club is a big positive because this season it hasn’t helped having a pack that, bar Soliola and Walmsley, can hardly make any yards.
It doesn’t help going into games without recognised half backs and without a goalkicker or anyone who can have a decent attempt at a drop goal.
The pressure is on Mr Brown and his boys next season, and I want to see these plenty of positives from defeat finally turn into victory and, at last, some silverware.
If not, he and a lot of the players should be shown the exit.
