Gareth Bale transfer to Real Madrid from Tottenham distances football from grassroots supporters
IF ever a game is going to self-destruct then it is football. We have seen an £85 million transfer fee being paid by Real Madrid for Gareth Bale.
He will earn £300,000 per week. This only proves the so-called sport is being used by corporate money men. But guess where the cash will eventually come from?
Easy answer: the fans. What will happen to the grassroots supporters who gave their time for their clubs when it becomes too expensive for them to attend the matches?
In a short time there will be clubs that will not be able to afford to be even at the bottom of the list for transfer bidding. The ridiculous situation will eventually mean attendances will drop and only the money men will be able to afford to attend the games.
The number of foreign players has reached a ridiculous level. In some matches up to 90 per cent of players are foreign.
Fans will be watching games made up of foreign players (with the names of their local club on their jersey) and this will only be possible if they can afford to pay entrance to the ground.
There are many people looking for jobs for less than £400 a week. When they read about these crazy amounts being paid for footballers they must surely feel as though they are insignificant whilst just looking for a way to make a living, not just playing a game.
