THE big search is on for local Welsh descendants to get in touch with a chapel history team. Paul Jones set up the preservation society for the ancient little Welsh chapel, at Sutton Oak, which sadly ran out of worshippers.
He and secretary, Caroline Owen, are asking for anyone with Welsh connections to come forward.
They say: "We are going to record a history document of some kind for the future generations to read, or look back on in many years to come."
The great Welsh industrial connection with Sutton seems to be fading, but Paul vows: "I'm not going to let that happen!"
A dedicated team of volunteers are to record any information, at the refurbished chapel, on Wednesdays (from 10.30am to 4.30pm) and Fridays (9.30am to 4.30pm).
Welsh-inspired folk are asked to bring along photographs, anything they know about the Welsh who came here to stay, and anything about their own Welsh connections.
