HAVING enjoyed a free Saturday to re-gather their thoughts, St. Helens Town look towards completing the final third of the Hallmark Security First Division campaign.
They have two successive away fixtures against teams at the top end of the table, as they travel to leaders Silsden on Saturday and Cammell Laird 1907 on Tuesday evening.
Fourteen games remain at the end of their worst campaign for many a long year, nine of which are away from home and Town are perilously close to the bottom of the table.
They have been rooted to 20th place for some weeks now, without a victory since defeating high-flying Sandbach in December and only Daisy Hill and Nelson sit below them in the table. Bacup lie four points ahead in nineteenth place, but the East Lancashire side have played 6 games fewer than Town, due largely to the boggy condition of their pitch.
If St. Helens could put a winning run together, Chadderton and Eccleshall are both within touching distance, but there are difficult games ahead in March, with only New Mills at home on Saturday week, before further trips to AFC Blackpool, Prestwich and Bacup in the run-in to Easter.
