ST HELENS Town have finally received the go-ahead to play Thursday’s opening home league game against Abbey Hulton United at their new Ruskin Sports Village facility, kick-off at 7.45pm.
However, following a ground grading inspection on Saturday, only a temporary endorsement has been granted by the Hallmark Security League.
Further works will have to be carried out before the ground will be cleared for future fixtures to be held at the new ground.
Town, under new manager Lee Jenkinson following Alan Gillespie's surprise departure last week, will go into the game on the back of a season-opening 2-0 loss at New Mills in the First Division.
Abbey Hulton, however, recorded an opening 2-1 win at Daisy Hill on Saturday, so they will be no pushovers on Thursday.
But with a big crowd expected, it could be an interesting as well as historic night at Ruskin Drive and certainly not one to miss!
