PILKS put in a top performance and scored some sparkling goals as they continue their good form going into next week’s President’s Cup semi-final with Unicorn Athletic.

The first goal came within 15 minutes but not before Matty Taylor and Graham Boylan both missed easy chances to take the lead. It took a cool finish from Brad Smailes to open the scoring.

In the 22nd minute, Luke Sephton’s deflected shot fell to Graham Boylan to double Pilks lead.

A sweeping move three minutes later added another goal. Gillum played the ball out from the back to Boylan, he laid it off to Ian McBride who played in Taylor. His shot was saved onto the post but Boylan followed up for his 20th goal of the season.

On 37 minutes, Taylor got his first goal of the game when he raced clear to finish.

The goal of the game came in the 55th minute when Smailes played two one-twos with Boylan to get into the box and slotted home to make it 5-0.

Matty Taylor had been relatively quiet in this game but he produced two great finishes to complete the rout. Firstly he got onto Smailes chip before lobbing the keeper to make it 6-0.

And with five minutes left he battled hard to win the ball on the half way line and then drove through the heart of the defence before again chipping the keeper to make it 7-0.

This was a scintillating performance as Pilks continue to finish the season strongly.
