PILKINGTON leapfrogged Billinge back into second place after they edged out a very accomplished Cheadle Town Reserves side whose position doesn’t reflect the quality they possess.

Cheadle started the game the quickest and could have been ahead in the first few mins and it took Pilks 15 minutes for their first meaningful opportunity when Frazer shot over from the edge of the box.

It took 41 minutes for the deadlock to be broken when Tingay played in Taylor who rounded the keeper for his 30th goal of the season.

Straight from the kick off and Cheadle could have been level only but two minutes later and Pilks were 2-0 up.

Boylan won the ball back and as he drove into the box he was obstructed, he then neatly converted from the spot.

The game itself was pretty even and Cheadle were threatening to get back in it in the 2nd half and with 15 minutes left Cheadle got one back after a neat finish from the edge of the box.

Pilks instantly hit back a minute later.

A misplaced pass fell to Frazer who put Taylor in. As he drifted wide the opportunity seemed to be lost but he cut inside and chipped the keeper with a sublime finish.

Pilks closed the game out well and whilst not at the same level as they have been in recent games, they ground out the result to keep themselves right in the title race.
