PILKINGTON came out on top against Middlewich Town in Cheshire League One thanks to a 75th-minute goal from Chris Tingay.

They would have been out of sight by half time had they converted their chances.

As it was, Pilks turned around level after conceding from a free kick with the last act of the half.

Luke Sephton curled a shot into the top corner to put them ahead after 10 minutes.

Sephton and Graham Boylan were among those missing chances to put Pilks clear.

Both teams hit the woodwork before Tingay was able to convert a cross to give Pilks the advantage.

The hosts survived a late onslaught before hitting the post again late on.
