ST HELENS Town have been earmarked for an Easter Sunday home game to form part of a Groundhoppers’ weekend, when several hundred spectators from all over the country will attend the match as the middle leg of a three-game sandwich on that day, 16 April.

The club has entered the FA Cup but at this stage it is not known whether its entry has been accepted.

Strictly speaking, the qualification criteria was limited to the first four places in the First Division, whereas Town finished seventh.

Town are hoping that further places may yet be allocated.

If they do not qualify, it will be the first time in their history that they have failed to feature in the FA’s premier knock-out competition.

Town will be operating additional teams at Under 21, Under 18, Under 17 level as well as a Sunday team this coming season and although the club has secured some sponsorship deals already, plenty more sponsorship packages are available at all levels, from match balls through to kit sponsorships and businesses of all sizes, as well as individuals, are invited to contact the club through its website www.sthelenstownafc.com or ring chairman John McKiernan on 07713 339682.

With the imminent return to the town, the club is anticipating a significant growth in attendance and interest in general.

In order to manage the increase in matchday footfall in particular, Town are looking for volunteers to take on a variety of duties and anyone interested should contact the club as above.
