IT was another blank week for St Helens Town, with matches postponed on Tuesday against Chadderton in the Reusch First Division Trophy and against Hanley Town on Saturday.

As the cup-tie against Chadderton has had to be cancelled twice due to the wet weather, under NW Counties League rules, Town lost home advantage and, as a result, were due to travel to Andrew Street for the re-scheduled Second Round game on Wednesday of this week.

Hopefully, the weather will have relented and the game will have been played, as Town have managed to fulfil only one game since 31 October, when they lost heavily at home to Daisy Hill.

Saturday sees Town make the short journey to Silver Street, where they play the return fixture against Irlam, having already won at home 2-0 in August.

There have been a number of new players signing on for Town in the last few weeks and also a number of departures, including Johann du Toit, Marcus Perry and Jack Golding.

St Helens have been hard hit with postponements in November and December, but they are approaching the half-way point of the season, still handily placed for an assault on the promotion play-off places.

After Saturday, they have a home game against Eccleshall on 19th December before the local derby against their former landlords, Ashton Town, at Edge Green Street on Boxing Day.
