EVERTONIANS in particular and football fans generally are invited to meet Bob Latchford, who will be signing copies of his memoir: A Different Road at Wardleworths in Westfield Street, St Helens on Saturday morning.

He will be in the town centre bookshop from 10.30am till 11.30am to sign copies of his autobiography.

A prolific scorer, in 11 consecutive seasons of top-flight football between 1972 and 1983, Latchford scored more league goals than any other First Division player.

A British transfer record holder when he swapped St Andrews for Goodison, Latchford was prolific at finding the back of the net by boot or with the head.

A player who averaged a goal every other game throughout his career, in the blue of his beloved Everton only Dixie Dean and Graeme Sharp have ever bettered Latchford's phenomenal goalscoring record.

His goals at Goodison brought Everton to the brink of silverware and Latchford England recognition.

A Different Road is priced £20.
