LANCE Hohaia is expecting Saints to offer increased potency in attack in the coming weeks, writes Mike Parsons.

Keiron Cunningham’s men have crossed only five times in their last three matches, with strong defence, grit and some calming influence from Luke Walsh seeing them end their three-match losing run at Huddersfield on Sunday.

Scrum half Walsh’s long awaited comeback from last season’s broken leg, along with returns from stand off Travis Burns and skipper Jon Wilkin, could not have been more timely at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Former New Zealand Test star Hohaia, doing the marshalling job at full back in the absence of both Jonny Lomax and Paul Wellens, had a better view than anyone of Walsh’s 25-minute impact off the bench and the work needed in preparation for the visit of league leaders Leeds Rhinos on Friday, kick off 8pm.

“It’s more about cohesion for us now,” said the 32-year-old utility back.

“We had Luke, Travis and Jon coming back into the side and kind of expected things to just happen and flow.

“There was some timing issues in terms of our plays and people being in the wrong position, and maybe running to the wrong hole.

“But we can work on all that. It’s fairly easy to fix once everyone knows their jobs and we’ve got those guys playing regularly together.”
