Saints pull off gutsy win in France

Chris Flannery goes in for a Saints try. Chris Flannery goes in for a Saints try.

Saints have beaten Catalan Dragons 20-15 in Perpignan in a win in which they really showed their mettle.

They withstood the appalling sending off of Tony Puletua for a shoulder charge tackle to hold on to their advantage.

Catalans led 8-0 after Saints struggled to get their hands on the ball initially before tries from Lance Hohaia and Francis Meli put them ahead.

Raguin twisted over, followed by a Scott Dureau drip to put the hosts 15-10 up.

But Saints hit the front shortly after the restart when Chrus Flannery ran a great line on to Jonny Lomax's pass to score.

And Saints scored their fourth when Makinson rounded off with another great touchdown.

However, the missed kicks made it a nerve-wracking finale, intensified by the shocking decision to send off Puletua.

Saints can draw plenty of positives from this big win as we head into the business end of the season. A superb win, full of character.
