AFTER last Sunday’s wake-up call at Wakefield, league-leading Saints will not be taking Friday's visit of 11th placed Huddersfield Giants lightly.

Nevertheless it does give them a good opportunity to get back on the horse against a side whose form has been patchy this term – and who will be missing suspended talisman Danny Brough.

Saints, too, will have absentees with Mark Percival serving a one-match ban for disputing a touch judge’s decision.

That is likely to give an opportunity to 20-year-old Matt Costello to make his senior debut in the centre.

Holbrook said: “We are not taking anyone lightly.

“Within our playing group we know that if we don’t play well we will get beat.

“We are not thinking we are miles ahead of anyone and are working hard on winning games.

“Wakefield worked harder than us. We created chances and made breaks but did not finish them off so have to give them credit for that.”

Huddersfield have only won two of their 11 games so far this season and are currently under the temporary charge of Chris Thorman after dispensing with the services of Rick Stone.

They still have quality in their ranks - and were very unlucky not to collect both points off the Leeds Rhinos over Easter.

Holbrook added: “They are a bit up and down, but that can make them dangerous.

“We will just prepare for the best Huddersfield team because a couple of weeks ago they could have beaten Leeds, who had to fight back to get a draw.

“They have some dangerous players there but the main focus has got to be on us.

“We were a bit poor on Sunday – everyone at different times – in that 18-minute period.

“So although we have to be wary of their threat we just have to worry about ourselves doing our job.

“We went away from that on Sunday and it cost us.”

Despite Huddersfield’s poor form they still have some power in that pack - particularly Sebastine Ikahihifo and Ukuma Ta’ai. And pulling the strings they have a shrewd operator Ryan Hinchcliffe.

They also have a number of ex-Saints in Lee Gaskell, Jordan Turner and Paul Clough.

“They may be missing some – but they still have some very good players, but this is about us getting back to the standards we set.

“We had a lapse last week and it cost us.

“The 10 other rounds we played for 80 minutes, but on Sunday we played for 62,” Holbrook said.
