SAINTS boss Justin Holbrook has paid tribute to Tommy Makinson, describing him as is the best wingman in the Super League.

The fleet-footed Makinson capped a fine Easter with a brace against Widnes to take his Saints career tally to 100 as he profited from a resurgent right hand attacking edge.

The tries, nevertheless, took some scoring in the tightest of corners, and it is his ability to get the ball down combined with his determined carries and crash tackle defence that have seen him recalled to the England squad this term.

Holbrook said: “I was really pleased to see him to score his 100th try.

“When he scored that try he he had already taken two carries in that set and had got back to the wing to score in the corner.

“His involvement is brilliant and I think he Is the best winger in the comp.

"He played centre for a period of this year and did a great job, but he is a fantastic player.

“As soon as he got the ball on Monday I knew he would score.

"He is a try scorer and has got the ability to get the ball down.

"It is an art that the special wingers have and good on him!"
