HERE'S our look back at some talking points from the Easter weekend.

1. Good Friday's script could have been written by a die-hard Saints fan. A sell out crowd, a pep talk from Meninga and some cracking tries, including a Ben Barba special.

That they dominated for so long and then fell behind late in the game could have been a crushing blow. That they had the resilience to get themselves off the canvas and win with such a stylish try shows that there is something stronger running through this team and that augurs well.

2. Although Ben Barba's dazzling footwork caught the eye, especially the way he left Morgan Escare look like he was waiting for a bus, the strong displays from the two old heads in the Saints ranks who helped shape this victory. James Roby constantly found a way through, broke tackles and made yards when Wigan's pack was rocking the Saints ball carriers.

And Jon Wilkin, now that he can concentrate on being a back row forward, offered guile, tough, hard running and experience in a quality stint - backing that up at Widnes too on Monday.

3. Good Friday was a huge test for young half Danny Richardson. And so when he fluffed his first penalty kick to touch and then sliced his clearance kick there must have been a fear that he would go into his shell.

But it is a huge credit to the lad that he was able to pick himself back up and produce the goods. On top of his play in the open, his goal kicking on Friday was exemplary, including the crucial touchline conversion. And then he got himself in the perfect position to slot the match-sealing drop goal.

4. One of the pleasing aspects of Saints' play, which started at Hull KR and gathered pace over Easter was the way they are now using the right hand side.

It gives the team's attack much greater balance and asks more questions of the defence.

At the start of the year it appeared everything was loaded to the left, but the last three matches have shown that the right edge can be equally as potent.

Hopefully Ryan Morgan and Tommy Makinson can forge a productive partnership.

In Makinson Saints have someone who knows his way to the line and how to get the ball down in the tightest of spots.

5. One of the pre-match highlights was the surprise appearance of current Australia national coach Mal Meninga.

Big Mal was only here for a year, and thousands in the crowd never saw him play. But he arguably made an impression and impact that reverberated beyond those 31 games he played in 1984-85 and helped spark life into a club after a tough few years and helped push it forward. I don't doubt Barba can do a similar job.

6. Saints largely kept the same 17 for Monday - with Matty Smith coming in for Jonny Lomax, with Theo Fages moving to six.

With a tough game on Friday to come, some felt that Justin Holbrook may have been tempted to freshen it up and put some new faces in for the Widnes game.

But Holbrook chose to keep them ticking over - although he did give James Roby a rare 20 minute rest at the end.

It was the right choice, it guaranteed the two points, ensured the team carried on knitting together, and takes the team to Friday in confident mood.
